College, maybe?

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm thinking I may possibly go back to school. This has been something I've always regretted not doing, something I've always wanted to finish. Once upon a time the plan had been that when Lori Anne started school that I would be able to return too. Well, things don't always go like we plan =0). Lately I've been thinking on it more and more. So I ask that you pray that if it's meant to be that God will begin to open doors and if it's not then that He'll take away my desire to attend. "What do I want to be when I grow up?", you may ask. Well, this is something I've struggled with too. I'd thought about becoming a teacher because I'd be able to spend more time with the kids and have summers off, etc... I'd thought about maybe respiratory therapy or some other 1 or 2 year program because I would be able to get my schooling out of the way quickly. But the more I thought on these things the more I realized that I just didn't want to do either of them....it just wasn't for me. Soooooo, I think that I want to eventually earn a Master of Science degree in Counseling Psychology. Due to my current circumstances certain things would have to fall into place for that to happen. I have to work. And (because of a recent conversation with Lane) night classes are out. For the time being that leaves online courses as my only option. Thankfully my job is pretty laid back and I've already gotten permission from the owner that if I do begin school I can work on my classes here at the office (of course I realize that work comes first but like I said earlier......my job is very laid back so this is my best option so far). I know that there are lots of online class options but I don't know if they'll be what I need to take. Honestly, there is so much I don't know about this whole process. The first step I'm going to take is filling out my application for FAFSA. If anybody has any advice for the second step (or just tell me what the second step is =0)) I'd be happy to hear it. I guess I feel like I've just been kind of floating lately and I feel the need to start paddling. Maybe this isn't the route I'm supposed to take, who knows? I guess time will tell. Keep me in your prayers.

Uncle Bill's Gift

My Uncle Bill dropped by my office the other day and gave me this for Lane. It is a Marlin lever action 22. This is the second gun he has given Lane, the other was a 16 gauge shotgun that is still new in the box. Those are not made anymore and are somewhat of a collectible.
It's still a bit too big and heavy for him now but as fast as he seems to be growing, I know it won't be long before he's able to manage it just fine. And just in case you're wondering he is completely supervised at all times when handling or firing a weapon.

Mother/Son Bonding

This past Friday Lane and I decided we wanted to do something fun together. This is what we came up with.
OK, before you ask.....NO my son is not wearing eye make-up (though I did question that myself when I first spotted him). They had a spring carnival at school on Friday and they did some face painting. When he closes his eyes it is supposed to look like another set of eyes. Lane informed me that this really freaked the other kids out. I let him choose where we were going to eat. He went back and forth between about 10 different restaurants and McDonald's. Little Tokyo's Hibachi Grill won (I really thought it was going to be McDonald's). He picked the lobster, it was very good and we always enjoy watching them cook.

Lane and I waiting for the game to start. (Are the eyes freaking you out?)

Southern Miss players getting ready to go on the field.

Not long after the game started Lane left me to see if he could catch a foul ball. I sat by myself for the rest of the game =0)

There were 2 home runs during the game, both by Bo Davis. It was pretty cool watching them sail over the scoreboard.
My little Southern Miss fan.

After the game they let the kids on the field to meet the players. Lane didn't catch a foul ball and one of the players noticed he didn't have one, so he went and got him one and signed it. I thought that was very sweet and Lane sure did appreciate it! He took the ball to school on Monday so he could show it off and tell everyone he went to the USM game.

A New Addition

We have added a new addition to our family. Meet Twinkle, previously know as Montee, Roscoe and Yogi. And even though it looks as if he's smiling....he's not. This cat has not stopped meowing ever since we got him--it's constant, even Lane is beginning to be annoyed. But like any proud parent Lori Anne thinks Twinkle does no wrong and is completely in love with him.

Celebrating Easter

We celebrated Easter at home this year. We attended our Sunrise Service at 7 am and our regular service at 10. This left us with a whole afternoon to hunt eggs to our hearts content.

We had 4 dozen eggs. There were glittered eggs, marbleized eggs,
regular eggs, stickered eggs, etc.... We had so much fun decorating them!

If you know Lori Anne very well you know that she LOVES chocolate. She was very impressed with this giant bunny and told everyone she came in contact with all about it. I looked on the back of the box and it said that the bunny was 10 servings. I know she had to have eaten at least five of those yesterday =o)

Lane finds an egg.

Lori Anne finds another one.
Even Rex found a couple we had hidden on the ground.

We hope you all had a Happy Easter!

Play Ball

After 2 cancelled games due to bad weather, Lane finally got to play his first baseball game on Saturday. This is his first year of 9 & 10 year old kid-pitch. The game is played a little differently than we're used to but we're learning it and he's having so much fun.
Way to watch that ball!!! He doesn't swing at junk!

He's fixing to steal a base. This is the first year they've been able to do that and he loves it!

Isn't this the CUTEST ball player you've ever seen =o)
Final score 19 - 3. We won!

Had to include a picture of Lori Anne. She's swinging on her tire horse. She's had that thing for
3 or 4 years now and still plays on it all the time.

And a picture of our ferocious guard dog, Rex.

More carrots maybe?

Since February all three of us have had to get glasses. It started with Lori Anne's speech teacher thinking that she may be having some vision trouble. I took her in to see the eye doctor and sure enough she needed glasses. Then Lane's teacher called and said she had noticed that he seemed to be having a little trouble focusing on some of his school work. I decided that since I had to take him in I might as well get my eyes checked too. And what do you know, I needed some as well. The kids only have to use theirs for school work and reading. I, on the other hand, need mine for driving (only at night and in unfamiliar areas). So here we are showing off our new glasses.
